The goal for today’s image was to create a massive underground cave filled with lost technology. I had this image in my head of light shining down from cracks in the ceiling and hitting this mysterious object buried deep underground. These large scale establishing shots, are a lot of fun to create and this one was no different. As far as process, I started off by creating a mini kit-bash set, like I’ve been doing for the past few videos. It takes time to set up, but adds versatility and quite a bit of speed once you get to the scene setup and post-production stages. And the best part is they’re reusable for future projects. The paintover stage for this image was minimal. I spent time in Blender getting the lights right in camera and it ended up saving a lot of time later. All I had to do with adjust the light around the focal point and then apply the camera raw filter and it was done.
